Tommy,

Just a note to let you know of a recent first-place finish at the Glock/GSSF "Remember the Alamo Ballistic Challenge" in San Antonio. Along with my team members from Florida and Texas we took first overall in the Stock Master category.

Just like your home page says, "the most accurate and reliable cast bullets money can buy." The quality and accuracy capabilities make these the best cast bullets available. This is the only cast bullet I shoot in my 9mm's, 40 S&W's and 45 acp's.

Next stop is IDPA in Houston followed by GSSF in Dallas. Thanks for making a great product!

Finally got around to shooting some of your 235 gr 41 mag bullets. I wanted to see how your claim of no leading stood the test. So, I loaded up a number of fire breathing dragon killers and headed out to the local gravel pit to put both of my Ruger Blackhawks through their paces. All I can say is WOW! I 've been shooting cast bullets for about 35 years and for the first time in as many years I found no leading of the bbl. None, nada, nothin. I don't suppose you want to tell me what "the rest is a secret" is all about eh? I didn't put them on paper, but, managed to hit every target of opportunity I put the sights to. I feel they are equal in accuracy to the cast bullets I have been using.

Thanks for a great product that actually works as advertised. ( A rare thing in todays world)

Tommy,
My deer season was a real good one. I didn't get on any big bucks, but did fill my tags (and my freezer).
I killed both does with the 265's. One was only 30 yards, but the other was a solid 100. I know I don't have to tell you that I am very pleased with the performance of those bullets.

How did that load do in your Anaconda?

Tom

Hi Tom Dennis Liebersbach from Red Bluff, CA here. Thought I might pass on the results of my first range session with you 425grn gas checks and my new Pedersoli 45/70. Not exactly bugholes or clover leaves, but definitely met my expectations. This is a new caliber to me as is this type of firearm. I am fairly certain I will be able to tighten these groups up considerably with some more playing! This was my third order from you and I have just placed my fourth and am working on another for my 38/357 caliber handguns. Thanks Dennis

Tom,

Just a note to let you know about some of the competition loads I've been using with great success with Leadheads Bullets:

For Glock Shooting Sports events (GSSF) I use your 180 gr 40 cal. with 3.7 gr. of Winchester Super Target. This is one of my all time favorites and is very accurate in stock barrels and very soft shooting. For 9mm, I use your 122 gr bullet with 5.5 gr of AA#5.

I've been loading the 45 ACP for many years and have had great performance with your 200 gr IPSC and 4.7 gr of Winchester 231 for light loads and 5.6 gr of 231 for major power factor loads.

Lately I've been experimenting with your 122 gr 9mm in my 38 Super with good results. I've driven them to 1250fps with no leading. This is an accurate bullet and is ideal for matches that require only moderate power, such as steel plate matches. I've been using primarily HS6 and have also experimented with AA#5. Because most open guns react differently due to the compensator design, weight, slide lightening, etc... shooters will need to experiment some and will most likely need to go with a lighter recoil spring. Regardless of the load, I recommend using a fully supported barrel in the 38 Super for safety.

In the last two weeks I've participated in a couple of great matches. The first was the Texas 3-Gun State Championship in San Angelo. I finished second in open unclassified shooting my 38 Super, Benelli and AR15.

Last week, I shot as a last minute fill-in for a local team in a regional "Outdoor Channel Sportsman's Team Challenge". We manged to take first in the novice class and had a score that would have won this class in Phoenix also. Again, I used the 38 Super for the action pistol stage.

Talk to you soon.

Mike F.

Hey Folks,

Here's a little picture of one of the deer that I got using your 265's in my .44 Revolver!

The bullets did there job with authority. This was about a 90 yard shot. I took him on the opening day of Ohio's firearm season. I've killed deer with several different bullets from my revolver, but The last few seasons have proven yours to be the best. Thanks again for making me look good.

Just a note to say Thanks, for receiving my order on a timely fashion. And also getting the order correct, more than I can say about some of your competitors. Keep up the Good Work, I'm glad to see a company that makes cast bullets the right way!  (Keith style) I'll be ordering again in the future. Thanks  Patrick Foley

TOM, I'VE BEEN SHOOTING IHMSA SILHOUETTES SINCE 1987 AND HAVE JUST STARTED USING CAST BULLETS IN THE REVOLVER CLASS. I'M SHOOTING A FREEDOM ARMS .41 MAG. I WAS'NT HAVING MUCH LUCK WITH THE 210-220 GN JACKETED BULLETS SO I THOUGHT I'D GIVE YOUR 270 GN GC BULLET A TRY, BUT RUNNING IT SLOW. MAN, DOES IT WORK!!

MY LOAD IS 16.0 IMR 4227, FED 155, STARLINE BRASS, LEADHEADS 270 GN GC, AND A REDDING PROFILE CRIMP. CHRONOGRAPHED VELOCITY AVERAGES 1085 (NO PASSING THRU THE SOUND BARRIER). SURE , YOU'VE GOT TO CRANK YOUR SIGHT MORE AS YOU GO OUT, BUT THE ACCURACY IS GREAT. I'VE HAD A COUPLE 40'S WITH IT, AND I JUST WON OUR OHIO STATE BIG BORE CHAMPIONSHIP WITH A 80X80+7 SHOOTOFFS. I'M NOT SURE HOW THIS LOAD WILL PERFORM IN OTHER GUNS WITH DIFFERENT RATES OF TWIST, BUT IT'S COMFORTABLE AND WORTH THE TRY. KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK.

By Todd Spotti:

The smallest revolver cast bullet group in the world?  HAH!  I wish.  It was close, but no cigar.  I was playing with my Dan Wesson 8 inch 360 trying a variety of different loads, and I noticed that it seemed to like 18.0 grains of H110, with the Nosler 180 grain silhouette bullet, and a Winchester small rifle primer for the spark.

Accuracy with this load was very good, but it was the standard deviation of the velocity that got my attention.  It was only 10 fps.  This is an exceptionally low number for a revolver and indicated that the load was very, very consistent - a highly desirable characteristic under any circumstance.  Todd 24.jpg (46574 bytes)

Just on a whim, I decided to try the same load using Leadhead’s excellent 200 grain, 35 caliber bullet.  The first two shots literally stacked up one on top of the other.  Wow!  “This load really looks like it has some potential, or was it just random luck?”   Concentrating as hard as I could, I slowly squeezed off the third shot, and damn, if it didn’t go almost exactly right on top of the first two.  “Man, this is absolutely unreal!  I’ve got to be dreaming.”  My heart really started pounding so I decided I’d take a little break to calm my nerves a bit.   About five minutes later, I was lining up the crosshairs in my 2.5 X 7 Simmons scope on the crosshair target pattern that I use to shoot groups.  While taking my time and fiercely concentrating to make sure the scope’s crosshairs lined up perfectly on the target, the sear unexpectedly broke.  “Damn!  I probably blew that beautiful group.”  Looking through the Nikon 80mm spotting scope showed me that the fourth bullet went almost right on top of the third.  Hot dog!   I was still in the running.  Man, I was really keyed up now.  “If I can just make this last shot, I’ll really have something.   I’ve GOT to make it.”  As I started to line the crosshairs up, I started to shake ever so slightly.  My nerves were making themselves known.  I should have just stopped, taken another break, relaxed, and taken some deep breaths before going on.  But noooooo.  I had to push on anyway, trying to force the situation, and the inevitable happened.  The fifth shot went 3/4” outside the group.  Man, I hate learning the same lessons over and over!  Dumb, Dumb, and Dumb!  Well it was a heck of a good group, but it could have been so much better.

Anyway, it’s still perfect proof of how good that particular combination of components is in the Wesson 360.  Try it.,    Todd Spotti

Tommy:

Here is some load info below, for the Leadheads bullets that I've been using.

These bullets are working well for me for the two shooting matches I use them for. Soon after developing my loads, I shot the first of these two matches with my new, coveted, ammunition. With very little effort, I came in with second place scores, winning out over several seasoned shooters in both of the matches. Keep up the good work, without Leadheads there wouldn't be enough good bullets in the world. I'll be getting all my bullets from you as I add new matches, requiring additional calibers, to my shooting competition calendar.

Leadhead's Bullets:

I started dabbling in cast bullets about 2-1/2 years ago.

At the end of last year I decided to get serious and acquired a Bond XP-100 made for cast bullets and made the commitment to go 100% cast in 98.

I heard about Marty Flack and (   Leadhead's Bullets) via the IHMSA chat room.

I contacted Marty and asked for advice.

Marty's advice was simple, use his 30-200 GC and this load. I tried it and shot three 40X40's in a row, right out of the box, developing sight settings at three different clubs.

Today, life is simple. I use Leadhead’s 30-200 and 30-165 exclusively in my  Bond and stock TC, each chambered in 300 Whisper.

These two bullets and Marty's load assistance helped me to win :

The 3-gun Aggregate at the IHMSA  Cast Bullet Internationals including my first 60X60 at Burrell, and the 4-gun cast bullet aggregate at the IHMSA  1998 Internationals in Oak Ridge.
So far this year (2000) I have shot a 40 at Pelham NH and an 80 at Fort Stockton with the Bond in 308 Whisper (300 Whisper). The load is 13.5gr of VV N120, WWSR primer and Lead Heads 30-200. I have fired a 40 at Pelham and a 78 at Fort Stockton with my 14" TC UAS. Same load.

MOA accuracy at near half the cost of match grade jacketed bullets and all   the load assistance I need. What more can a shooter ask for!

                                                               Mike Rowles

Marty:I would like to thank you for making an excellent product! I used your bullet PR7-145G to win IHMSA Production and Standing in a Match in Wisconsin.
Accuracy was Excellent and the Load you Gave me Worked As you Said It Would! Thanks Again

Leadheads Bullets:

I have Been Playing of and on with "Home Brew" Cast Bullets for about 26 years.

Attempting to make harder bullets by increasing this or decreasing that, never did sway the fouling much in either direction! Then out go the old molds and in come the new "Gas Checked" Ones! The fouling issue for the most part went away but accuracy was never on par with jacketed bullets. Next we take a scientific approach and carefully inspect and weigh every bullet for flaws and save the bad ones for plinking! Now we have the most accurate batch ever.We carefully load each bullet and head for the range. One five shot group later we're plinking at that target 300 yards away! The molds are oiled, boxed up and put away for five more years or so or just long enough to forget why we stopped playing with cast bullets!

Then low and behold a stranger comes to town! He's got a better idea, a whole new approach.Seeing how we're after accuracy and not a hunting bullet, lets make something a little harder and as consistent as we can, top it off with a lube that actually prevents fouling and we have something!

Marty, As far as I'm Concerned you've you've accomplished that and more! The results i've gotten with your bullets are far superior to any I've ever tried. The Fouling is zero and that includes velocities pushed into the jacketed bullet range (2300fps) without sacrificing accuracy!

The Consistency bullet to bullet is phenomenal for cast bullets. All that together with some great pricing and I wonder why anyone would invest in the equipment to "do it yourself" Keep up the good work!

Jeff Grimshaw, The Gun Rack, Montague Michigan

Note: Jeff shot a 5 Shot 200 Yard Group of .750 with our PS357-200G Bullet!

Marty: I wanted to drop you a note to tell you how much I appreciate your quality bullets. I Primarily shoot your PR7-145G Silhouette bullet. I have been using your bullets exclusively for 2 years.

I'm using this bullet in both my Bond XP and my MOA both chambered in 7BR. My loads are 28 Grains of AA-2460 in the XP and 29 Grains in the MOA. Remington 7-1/2 primers are used in both.

I have found that this bullet and these loads take rams with authority in both guns and it is extremely accurate. In fact I have found no difference in accuracy between your 7mm bullets and the Hornady 154's that have been the facorite of Ohio shooters for years! Further at half the cost of the Hornady bullets I consider your bullets a Win- Win situation.

I am also pleased to tell you I have shot this 7mm bullet in the Ohio Big Bore Championship, The 1997 IHMSA Cast Bullet Internationals and the 1997 Region 3 Championships. I won classes at all these events with your bullets!

I am Currently working up a load using your PS357-200G Bullet for my scoped 10" 357 Maximum Contender. I am beginning to see excellent results with this bullet. In fact this bullet is far more accurate than the Remington 35 cal bullets I have been using.

Thanks for making such a fine product, I hope Leadheads continues to prosper and serve the shooting community for years to come!

Steve Ware, Findlay Ohio
